The story :- The last leaf..

There are 3 characters :- Sue , jOHNSY AND BEHRMAN..

Character ::-

•  Johnsy :

     A young artist who falls ill with pneumonia. She believes her fate is tied to the ivy leaves outside her window, convinced she will die when the last leaf falls. 

      
• Sue : 

Johnsy's roommate and fellow artist. She is caring and supportive, doing her best to help Johnsy recover.. 

• Behrman  :  An elderly, struggling artist living downstairs. He is known for his failed attempts to create a masterpiece.

Plot  :

Johnsy becomes seriously ill with pneumonia. She develops a fixation on the ivy leaves outside her window, believing her life will end when the last leaf falls. Sue, worried about her friend's deteriorating condition and mindset, tries to reassure her.

Meanwhile, Behrman, an aging artist who lives downstairs, learns about Johnsy's obsession with the leaves. Despite his gruff exterior, he is moved by her plight. On a stormy night, he secretly paints a realistic-looking leaf on the wall outside Johnsy's window.

The next morning, Johnsy sees that one leaf remains despite the storm. This seemingly insignificant event rekindles her hope and will to live. She starts to recover.

However, it is later revealed that Behrman, who had ventured out into the cold and wet night to paint the leaf, has contracted pneumonia and died. He sacrificed his own life to give Johnsy hope through his art.

Themes:
